Make no mistake about the fact that our team of highly qualified teachers and support staff could be using their credentials to make a lot more money in the secular workplace. But they’re not. They are all here at OCS, and for the same reason: to make a lasting difference in the life of your child.
For a job as important as that, only the best candidates are selected, and not only by academic merit, but by character as well. Our teachers must have warmth and compassion, a demonstrated love for God and a great sense of humour. Read about our staff below.
Principal & Gr. 5&6 Teacher (B.A., BCEd, CSTC, CSPC)
Rick is passionate about glorifying and enjoying God in every area of his life. For twenty four years, he has pursued excellence in Christian education both as a teacher and administrator. He thoroughly enjoys interacting with students in the classroom, gym and especially at recess times. Rick is looking forward to serving God by providing experienced leadership to Orangeville Christian School.
Gr. 7&8 Teacher (BA, MEd Science)
Gabrielle is a graduate of both Redeemer University College and D’Youville College. She loves sports and has a great rapport with students. Gabrielle also teaches French in Gr. 3-8 using the AIM program and provides leadership to Student’s Council. Vibrant, hard working, & full of life… that’s Gabrielle!
Gr. 5&6 Teacher & Vice Principal (BA, BEd, OCT)
Kristie is part of the Leadership Team at OCS. Kristie is a vibrant and fun loving teacher who loves her vocation. As a mom of 4, she knows children! She brings a quality Christ-centered teaching style into the classroom, and we are blessed to have her on staff.
Gr. 3&4 Teacher (BA, BEd, OCT)
Meredith has served in Christian schools in Ontario, Nigeria and Indonesia as a classroom teacher, and also as the school librarian. Meredith’s classroom is filled with a love for learning, for books and for the Lord. “It is a pleasure to work within the Christian family here at OCS, learning, growing and living in the Light!”
Gr. 1&2 Teacher & Special Education Specialist (BA, BEd, Special Ed 1, 2, & 3, OCT)
Alexandra attended Queen’s University to obtain her BA and BEd. She also has her Special Ed 1, 2 & 3, making her a certified Special Education Specialist. She also has Family Studies Intermediate Qualifications. We are excited to benefit from her enthusiasm and love for teaching. As a passionate teacher, she works hard to ensure her classroom is filled with Christ-centered learning, creativity and lots of smiles!
JK & SK Teacher (BA, BEd, OCT) (3 days per week)
Ann Van Harten was born in Vancouver, BC, received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Dordt College, and has taught in Christian Schools in three provinces. “I love the Lord and feel very privileged to expose the wonder of God and His creation to the young children in my class.”
JK & SK Teacher (BA, BEd) (2 days per week)
Jenny received her BA in Elementary Education from Dordt College and went on to teach for three years in Romania as a missionary. She is a mother of three and has a passion for instilling a love of learning at a young age. Her energy and fun-loving spirit make the classroom a great place to be!
Educational Assistant (BA, OCT)
Alice’s vibrant personality is a real asset to the classroom and to the whole school. When she’s not helping in the classroom, she can be found teaching piano lessons or organizing events. No matter what she is involved in, she serves with joy and energy.
Educational Assistant (ECE, BA)
Since Janice began in the winter of 2012, she has been an invaluable resource for our students. Janice makes her way from the JK/SK class to the 7/8 without the blink of an eye. She is versatile and loves helping kids do anything from tying their shoelaces to solving equations.
Judy is our newest EA. As our school continues to grow, so has our need for additional staffing. Judy has a graceful and caring nature that is displayed whether it is in helping in the Kindergarten classroom or with individual students. Her positive attitude and years of EA experience is a real blessing to OCS.
Educational Assistant (R.N. Rtd) Vicki attended both the University of Toronto and George Brown College (R.N. Rtd.) for her formal education. After working in the medical profession for a few years, she opened a country Nursery School with Christian principle-based teaching, focusing on numeracy and literacy skills. Her program involved several staff, volunteers and over 30 students per week for 22 years. Vicki feels quite honoured and privileged to be part of the Orangeville Christian School. OCS is blessed to have her on staff.
Music Teacher (BA, ARCT)
Dennis teaches our band program in Gr. 3-8. He is a very talented musician who plays a wide variety of instruments. He is a worship leader in his church and is well known & respected in the community as he plays in a local popular band. Dennis’ talents help OCS provide a broad and diverse curriculum.
Yolanda is part of the Leadership Team at OCS. Yolanda has been our eyes, ears, and hands (not to mention brains!) in the office for many years now. Visitors and staff are greeted with a big smile every time they come into the office. If you hang around the office long enough, you’ll probably hear another staff member ask “where would we be without her?” It’s definitely true, she’s an exceptional person, and a great office manager!
Jenica obtained her CA designation in 2003 and is a school parent of three children. She brings a wealth of financial knowledge a well as a passion for OCS to her position here. Her gentle manner and capable skills are a blessing to OCS.
Office Assistant (BA)
Gwen is a fabulous addition to our school and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as she provides office assistance. Gwen is trained as a teacher and often supply teaches for us. She has also served as the Board Secretary for many years so she is certainly a well-rounded and gifted individual!
