Our Staff

All of our teachers have their Teaching Certificate and a vast majority of our faculty are graduates of Christian liberal arts colleges.

Our Staff

Orangeville Christian School is a private, independent Christian School serving Shelburne, Caledon, Grand Valley and Orangeville as well as rural Dufferin County.

Hand picked, dedicated and in for the long haul.

Make no mistake about the fact that our team of highly qualified teachers and support staff could be using their credentials to make a lot more money in the secular workplace. But they’re not. They are all here at OCS, and for the same reason: to make a lasting difference in the life of your child.

For a job as important as that, only the best candidates are selected, and not only by academic merit, but by character as well. Our teachers must have warmth and compassion, a demonstrated love for God and a great sense of humour.

All of our teachers have their Teaching Certificate and a vast majority of our faculty are graduates of Christian liberal arts colleges. Teachers work closely with parents to ensure the best possible education for their children. Our unique and valuable shared commitment to Christ by both parents and teachers creates an atmosphere of love and care for the children. Academic excellence is expected and achieved through hard work and regular professional development.

Meet our staff below.

God has blessed me with a deep passion for administration, teaching, and instilling a love for learning in every child. I have a strong desire to see every child succeed.  I have had the opportunity to teach many different ages and in many different places. I spent three years teaching High School students and adults in Romania, two and half years teaching University of Waterloo students English at Conestoga College, and have taught Kindergarten, Grade 1/2 and led the Resource Program here at OCS. God has been very present in my life wherever he has led me over the years, and I continue to see him working here at OCS. It is a privilege to be able to share my love for the Lord with the students I interact with every day. Every child that I come in contact with is loved, valued and cherished by the Lord and deserves to be given every opportunity to succeed!

My journey in education has been fueled by my belief in Christ’s redeeming work on this earth.  Having taught in the Christian school system for ten years, I relish the opportunity to guide students, not only academically, but socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  Teaching in a school that strives to glorify God, allows me the privilege of walking alongside students as they grow in community and develop leadership potential, character, and grit.  I feel truly blessed to serve in God’s Kingdom work!

Gr. 5 Teacher (BA, BEd, OCT)

I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. God affirmed this passion as I grew and made it clear that I would serve Him in this vocation in a Christian school. I love being able to integrate God and His creation into my lessons, and having Him be the centre of what happens in my classroom. The most rewarding part of teaching for me is the relationships that develop with my students. I enjoy learning who they have been created to be, and to challenge them to develop their characteristics they’ve been designed with. I love relearning things through their eyes.

I have always had a passion for working with children and encouraging students’ love for learning.

I graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Studies. I completed my Bachelor of Education at Redeemer University, where I learned to encourage a greater understanding of God and foster a sense of awe and wonder in His creation through the teaching of curriculum.

Each student that enters our school is a precious child of God, made in his image, and with a divine purpose, therefore, I believe that it is important for educators to nurture the whole child – mind, body, soul, and spirit.

I am so grateful to be a part of the team of dedicated and caring educators at OCS. It brings me such joy to work with young students, learning and growing alongside them.

Matthew 22:37 says, “Love the Lord your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind, this is the first and greatest commandment.” My goal is to be an example of this verse to those around me, especially my students.

Growing up I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher but I never envisioned myself teaching in a
Christian School.  I am so thankful that 25 years ago God opened  the door for me to start my teaching
career in a Christian school.  Now I cannot envision teaching without the freedom to openly share my
faith, my love for God and to invite and encourage children to find their place in God’s story.  In my
years in Christian Education I have experience teaching in all of the elementary grades from
Kindergarten to grade 8 as well as humbling serving as a principal for 12 years.  It is a great joy each day
to walk in the classroom and to spend my days learning alongside my students. Everyday is a great day
to be at school!

I started working with children and families at a young age through diverse opportunities of volunteering, and later working in the early year’s settings as an RECE. From Northern Indigenous communities, to Danish Forest Kindergartens, God has given me the divine gift of helping foster resilience and guiding children to be unique in the way God made them to be. Colossians 3:23 tells us “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” and it is a blessing to work in a community that shares in this teaching. I pray God will guide me through this year, using me as a light in the children and families I have the honour of working with.

I’ve had the immense privilege of working and volunteering with young children of various ages in different settings for over 15 years. Because children are learning and growing at a rapid rate, these early years are a fantastic opportunity to foster their desire to discover themselves and all about God’s world around them. I feel blessed to be a part of the Orangeville Christian School Kindergarten program, and I look forward to providing a rich learning environment full of experiences where our children can learn and grow.

Art Teacher

As I child I always wanted to be an artist.  As I got older my love for art and all things creative never faded but I also found a great love for teaching.  I got my degree in Education from Bethel College in Kansas as well as minors in Art and Spanish.  For the next 7 years I taught a variety of subjects including English, Spanish, Speech, Debate, Dramatic Arts, Yearbook, Graphic Design, and Media Production.  I also developed a love for photography and went on to complete my Master’s Degree in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Since moving to Canada in 2010 I have primarily pursued my photography career which has taken me to many interesting and unexpected places.   I was able to do some long term supply teaching at OCS during the 2021-22 school year and I loved being part of a Christian school community where it’s about more than just living my faith, it’s about the freedom for that faith be an integral part of any subject I’m teaching.   I am very excited to be teaching art at OCS this year.  There is something extra special about being able to teach art in a way that focuses on seeing and appreciating the world God has given us, as well as in a way that helps students discover and develop God given abilities.

Music Teacher

I entered classroom teaching in 2011 after completing a B.Ed. at Wilfrid Laurier University and have been teaching music in Christian schools in southern Ontario since then.  Currently, I am a part of the OCS family for 2 days a week (W/F) and the JKCS (Brampton) family the other 3 days of the week.  I have been a professional musician and music teacher for many years teaching hundreds of private students piano and related theory subjects, conducting and directing bands and choirs, coaching and accompanying vocal and instrumental soloists, and composing and arranging music for vocal, choral and instrumental settings.  My B.Mus. is in Piano Performance & Composition (Laurier) and my M.Mus. is in Composition (U of Alberta).  I absolutely love teaching music and I love to work with kids – everyday they make me laugh, help me to think outside-the-box and see things from many different angles – in many ways, they help keep my ‘old brain’ young!  And, to teach them within an environment where we can talk about our faith is an extra-special blessing!

We feel incredibly blessed to have an option like OCS for our children to attend! Teachers are amazing, and while always striving to provide excellent academic challenges and incorporate new experiences, they also actually care about my kids. They encourage, correct, and connect with love and intentionality. The facilities are awesome as well and we are especially excited about this year's school play! Thank you for all you do OCS!

OCS is everything a school should be, and so much more. Their priority is the wellbeing of the students and this is evident in how the students are nurtured and cared for. OCS offers rich programming and curriculum to ensure that the needs of all students are met. The educators are extremely knowledgeable and work tirelessly for the benefit of all students. I am impressed daily by how happy my daughter is to attend school and the depth of knowledge and quality of work that she brings home. OCS is not only preparing students to be higher level thinkers and problem solvers, it is instilling core values of kindess and empathy within it's students. I cannot imagine a better place for my daughter to embark on her educational journey.

We have had students enrolled at OCS from 2015 to 2023. Every single year we have been so thankful to have fabulous and approachable teachers. We're so appreciative of the affirmation of identity and God's love that our kids receive at OCS. We have found the math curriculum and individual monitoring of academic progress to be much improved at OCS from what we experienced in the public school system. The sports and music programs are excellent. We have greatly enjoyed the love of reading developed by the Battle of the Books club, and other initiatives at OCS, that we feel have given our kids an advantage in their preparation for high school.

We, as a family, had no problem posting a review for OCS!!! Our journey there began in September/2014 when our grandson was enrolled in JK. His experience there was positive in every aspect…academically, socially and spiritually. Eventually, Wayne began working there in a maintenance position and Judy as both an EA and supply teacher. Although we have both retired, Wayne continues to volunteer on the maintenance committee and Judy as supply. We plan to continue supporting OCS to the best of our abilities in the future!!!

OCS has been incredible for our 3 children who started this year. I couldn’t be happier with our experience. The teachers are caring and attentive and take the time to get to know each student individually. The academic program has been challenging and rewarding and we have seen so much growth in all our children. The environment feels safe and is community based and the school offers a wide range of activities for the children and their families. Overall, I am extremely impressed by the commitment to excellence that is evident at this school and would highly recommend it to other parents.
