We are very excited to take this opportunity to introduce another new staff member to our school community.
Many of our parents may already know Marc Mailhot. For many years, Marc has served our school community as the Chair of the Board of Directors. Although we will miss his leadership skills on the Board, we are very encouraged that he is now transitioning into his new role as the grade 3/4 teacher at OCS.
Marc is a gifted and passionate teacher. His skills in project based learning, curriculum integration, community connected learning, and educational technology have been recognized and celebrated over the years.
- In 2017, Marc received the Governor General’s Award for Excellence in Teaching for The GrandPals Project.
- In 2015, he received Honourable Mention for the Edward Burtynsky Award for Teaching Excellence in Environmental Education for his “Water Rockers” project.
- In 2014, he received Honourable Mention for the Jack Layton Award for Youth Action in Sustainability for creating classroom vermicomposters.
Marc graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Life Sciences. He holds a Masters of Christian Studies from Regent College and a Masters of Education from D’Youville College in Buffalo.
The Mailhot family is heavily invested in the cause of Christian education. Sarah’s expertise and tireless efforts in fundraising and expansion planning continue to bless our students and staff. Vivienne (7), Nathan (5), and Ruthie (3) are currently enrolled at OCS, and Samuel (9) graduated last year.
Please pray that God will continue to bless OCS as Marc transitions from the Board to the teaching staff.
