Wow! It’s hard to believe that school is starting in a week and a half! The staff have been working hard getting their classrooms ready and excitement is in the air. We are looking forward to being part of what God has in store for Orangeville Christian School this coming year!
Our theme for the 2023-2024 school year is Same God: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow. We are excited to celebrate God’s faithfulness as a school community! Our theme verse is:
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is trustworthy in all he promises
and faithful in all he does.
Psalm 145:13
The best part of being a principal is interacting with the students and building into their lives! I am really looking forward to eating lunch with a different student every day this year. Every morning, I will be picking a student’s name out of a box and that student will get to each lunch with me in my office. I may even have a few treats stashed away to share with them!
One thing that we have struggled with as a smaller school is making time available for teachers to collaborate with each other. We are starting a new initiative this year! Every Thursday morning, the teachers will be starting the day with 45 minutes of incredibly valuable collaboration time. In order to make this possible, the students will have an additional 20 minutes outside to get some physical exercise and interact with their peers.
An important part of being a student at Orangeville Christian School is having the opportunity to be a light for Christ in our community. Every class will be taking part in a Community Service Project this year. Last year, the students collected socks for Family Transition Place, made cards to thank the Dufferin snow plow drivers, visited the elderly at the Avalon Long Term Care Home, collected food for the Food Bank, helped sort food at the Food Bank, and did some spring cleaning around Orangeville.
You may have driven by recently and noticed a beautiful addition on our school property! We are very thankful that a family at OCS has allowed us to use this trailer free of charge until the expansion is complete! What a blessing! We are hoping that the trailer will be ready for student use early in the New Year. In September 2024, we will need another classroom as we will be moving to all single grades. In the meantime, we are excited to be able to use this trailer already this year as we can always use more space.
Orangeville Christian School continues to grow! We are excited to welcome 21 new families to our school community. As we continue to grow, the need for more space increases as well! The Board of Directors is in the preliminary stages of looking into a four classroom plus washroom expansion. It is definitely an exciting time to be part of the leadership at OCS!
As we reflect on God’s faithfulness to OCS and we look ahead to our 44th year of service to Him, let’s keep this amazing school in our prayers! Please pray for our new students and staff, that they may feel welcome and embraced in this community. Pray that God will work powerfully through the students and teachers that come through our doors as well as the plans and activities laid out for this coming year.
He (Christ) is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Colossians 1:17
